Nobis Hotel Copenhagen Press Kit
Nobis Hotel Copenhagen opened in September 2017 as the first Nobis Hospitality Group property outside Sweden.
Nobis Hotel Copenhagen is a contemporary luxury hotel in a prime location in the heart of the Danish capital, housed in a historic building at Niels Brocks Gade 1, off H. C. Andersen Boulevard. Its neighbours include the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek Museum and Tivoli Gardens.
The hotel comprises 75 rooms and suites spread across a 5,500 square metre site that previously housed the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music. Designed by the architect Martin Borch, who served as Royal Surveyor in Copenhagen from 1903 to 1923, the building is regarded as one of Copenhagen’s earliest concrete structures and retains its original architectural detailing.
Nobis Hotel Copenhagen embodies a more understated approach to contemporary luxury, where architecture, atmosphere and service are carefully balanced. Throughout the hotel, the focus remains on timeless design, quality materials and attentive hospitality delivered in a relaxed and personal setting.
In addition to its rooms and suites, the hotel features Restaurant NOI, The Marble Bar, a private relaxation area with a sauna and cold-plunge pool, and a fully equipped fitness studio.

Interiors by Gert Wingårdh and Wingårdh Arkitekter
The historic building at Niels Brocks Gade 1 is being transformed into a cutting-edge contemporary luxury hotel by Wingårdh Arkitekter, Sweden’s most celebrated architectural firm, under the leadership of star architect Gert Wingårdh, who previously designed the interiors of the Miss Clara Hotel in Stockholm for the Nobis Hospitality Group, which opened in 2013.
“It’s a privilege to work with this fantastic building in such a great location,” says Gert Wingårdh. “Danish classicism, of which this building is a fine example, is something special — highly sophisticated, yet more understated than its Swedish counterpart. In the main building, we’ve taken a delicate and respectful approach, emphasising every detail of the original architecture and décor, whilst incorporating high-quality natural materials such as various marbles, stone, wood and glass, with a subtle colour palette, accentuated by beautiful deep greens.”
“With the adjoining annexe from the 1960s, which houses Restaurant NOI, we’ve allowed ourselves greater architectural freedom,” adds Wingårdh. “In keeping with the rhythm of the signature glass façade, we have drawn inspiration from Le Corbusier’s La Tourette Dominican monastery from the late 1950s, with its boldly elegant lines. I think there is something of a connection between this style of updated late 1950s modernism and turn-of-the-20th-century classicism.”
In the interior design of Nobis Hotel Copenhagen, Wingårdh Arkitekter has worked with a set of core values important to the Nobis Hospitality Group. Authenticity, honesty, quality, care and richness of detail are some of these key virtues. The building’s imposing sense of space and elaborate, elegant detailing lend the interiors a natural grandeur.
Rooms and Suites
Nobis Hotel Copenhagen offers 75 rooms and suites, set within a historic 1903 landmark that was once home to the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Each room blends classic Danish architecture with modern Scandinavian design, shaped by Wingårdh Arkitekter
The 75 rooms and suites are spread across four floors, with views overlooking either the city streets or the courtyard.
Our 38 Superior Rooms measure 18 sqm (193 sq ft) and are situated from the ground floor to the second floor. On the third floor, we have 10 cosy Superior Loft Rooms with sloping ceilings.
Our 14 Deluxe Rooms measure 22 sqm (236 sq ft) and are situated from the ground floor to the third floor.
We have 6 Junior Suites measuring 40 sqm (430 sq ft), all situated at the corners of the building. These suites feature a lounge area and are renowned for their bathrooms, which are fully clad in Italian Bardiglio marble from floor to ceiling.
On the third floor, our 4 Junior Loft Suites offer the same suite experience but with sloping ceilings that create a more intimate ‘hygge’ and an authentic Copenhagen apartment feel.
Our two Penthouse Suites, each measuring 98 sqm (1,050 sq ft), are situated on the fourth floor, offering views overlooking some of Copenhagen’s most iconic landmarks: the Glyptotek, Tivoli Gardens and City Hall. Both Penthouse Suites have access to a fully equipped Superior Room connected to them on the third floor below.
Our grand Nobis Suite measures 91 sqm (980 sq ft) and is situated on the second floor. The suite is designed as one large, open-plan space, with a bespoke wardrobe subtly separating the living area from the bedroom.
It features a spacious bathroom finished in Bardiglio marble and two toilets. The Nobis Suite has four large windows overlooking the city and the Glyptoteket.
The rooms and suites at Nobis Hotel Copenhagen combine historic Danish classicism with contemporary Scandinavian design.
Natural materials such as marble, stone, wood, leather and glass are used throughout the hotel, chosen for their quality and ability to age gracefully over time. Nordic design classics are combined with selected European design brands and bespoke furniture, lighting and textiles designed exclusively for Nobis Hotel Copenhagen, creating interiors that feel personal, comfortable and timeless.
Restaurants and bars
Restaurant NOI
Restaurant NOI is the gastronomic heart of Nobis Hotel Copenhagen, seating 80 guests in an informally elegant dining room designed by Wingårdh Arkitekter under the leadership of Gert Wingårdh. The restaurant is housed in the hotel’s 1960s annex on Niels Brocks Gade, distinguished by a glass and copper façade inspired by Le Corbusier’s La Tourette monastery.
The cuisine at NOI is elegant and comforting, rooted in European culinary traditions and interpreted through the team’s own contemporary approach. The menu changes with the seasons and is built around carefully selected ingredients, with a clear focus on local sourcing and trusted producers.
NOI’s wine list is carefully curated to appeal to both everyday wine drinkers and dedicated enthusiasts. Whilst the selection draws on classic wine regions and producers, NOI also embraces a more contemporary approach — exploring new expressions and lesser-known labels, always with a clear focus on quality.
NOI offers a serene, welcoming atmosphere shaped by thoughtful lighting, music and personalised service. The restaurant attracts both hotel guests and Copenhagen locals, positioning NOI as a destination for dinners, social gatherings and after-work get-togethers.
The name NOI means ‘we’ in Italian and echoes the Latin word nobis, meaning ‘us’ — a subtle reference to togetherness and shared experience.
The Marble Bar
The Marble Bar is situated within Restaurant NOI at Nobis Hotel Copenhagen and serves as a natural extension of the hotel’s social atmosphere. Clad in black marble from floor to ceiling, the bar combines bold architectural lines with a calm and comfortable setting, characterised by soft lighting, reflective surfaces and carefully selected Scandinavian furniture.
The cocktail menu is rooted in craftsmanship and precision, with a focus on modern classics, seasonal ingredients and carefully curated locally produced spirits. Scandinavian influences run throughout the menu, with several cocktails featuring locally produced spirits alongside a selection of Danish beers.
The Marble Bar attracts both hotel guests and Copenhagen locals, creating a relaxed yet lively atmosphere throughout the evening. Whether for an aperitif, a late-night cocktail or informal get-togethers, the bar offers a more intimate and laid-back experience in the heart of Nobis Hotel Copenhagen.
Relaxation Area & Fitness
Nobis Hotel Copenhagen offers a private relaxation area reserved exclusively for hotel guests. The relaxation area is characterised by floor-to-ceiling grey marble, creating a calm and monolithic ambience. The relaxation area includes a dry sauna, a cold-plunge pool and a warm marble stone designed for recovery and relaxation after a day in the city.
The atmosphere is quiet and understated, offering guests a moment of calm in the centre of Copenhagen.
Adjacent to the relaxation area, guests have access to a well-equipped fitness studio featuring training equipment suitable for both strength and cardio workouts.

About Nobis Hospitality Group
Alessandro Catenacci is the driving force behind many of Stockholm’s top restaurants, nightclubs and hotels. His Italian name may reveal his Roman origins, but a distinctly Scandinavian sense of luxury is evident in everything Catenacci does. Above all, he hopes to offer guests places where they can feel as comfortable and humbly self-assured as he is. “I sometimes look at myself in the mirror and think, ‘Am I really good at anything, or was it just luck’?”
Back in 1987, Catenacci bought the Stockholm-based restaurant empire belonging to the great Scandinavian chef Tore Wretman – including Café Opera, Operakällaren, the Riche and Stallmästaregården. This shrewd acquisition became the springboard for what now comprises seven top-tier hotels, in addition to the restaurants and nightspots. Catenacci’s ease makes his success appear as though luck were indeed a factor, but it is in fact the result of a long-term vision, hard work and an intuitive business sense.
His company, the Nobis Group, has grown steadily over the more than two decades that have passed since that shrewd deal was struck. In many ways, the conglomerate’s philosophy combines the best of Catenacci’s Italian heritage – a passionate approach to fine food and a keen eye for quality – with the epitome of Scandinavian understatement.
