”Stockholm’s slowest lunch” at new Caina
Far from stressed-out half-hour’s lunch breaks, Italian restaurant Caina at Nobis Hotel opens up a lunch experience out of the ordinary. Now guests can enjoy a succession of classic dishes in a chilled-out way – just like in Italy. From a delicious antipasti buffet to traditional main courses and tempting sweets to finish off. And for those who are in the mood, there’s a new selection of both wines and cocktails in smaller sizes.
- When you come to us, we recommend a bit extra time and a large appetite, says Malin Portnoff Jellby, Restaurant Manager. The lunch is something very special in Italy, a highlight of the day that you’re looking forward to and this is what we want to create here at Caina. We also wanted to present more festive beverage options, but maybe with a bit of ”Swedish moderation”, and offer both wines and dry martinis in half sizes.
Caina is a re-creation in a brand new guise of the Catenacci family’s classic neighborhood bistro with the same name which opened on Folkungagatan in Stockholm’s Södermalm district in 1980. The restaurant serves classic Italian dishes and delicacies from various Italian regions, based on superior quality ingredients available in season, with a wine list mainly based on Italian wines. The menu and the wine list vary with the season, focusing on different Italian regions. Our Chef de Cuisine is Luciano Aru, who has his roots in Piemonte and Sardinia, with a background in the Nobis group. Luciano is responsible for the culinary concept in collaboration with Stefano Catenacci, gastronomic director of the Nobis Group.
- Caina is a traditional Italian ristorante in the true and honest sense, simple and rustic, but also modern and elegant. This means that we serve Italian food in its genuine, true form, not in the usual interpretations presented around the world, says Stefano Catenacci. Our menu is quite small, based on what’s available in season, with a limited choice of dishes for each course. I believe in such a small but exquisite menu, with top class ingredients only, that is changed frequently.
Caina’s new business lunch is an authentic Italian experience with an exclusive antipasti misti buffet, a main course of fish, meat or pasta, coffee and a “dolce”. Guests can also order from an à la carte menu or enjoy the antipasti buffet solely.
Nobis Hotel has been awarded a number of prestigious prizes and awards, among other things for its restaurants and bars where The Gold Bar received the “Bar of the Year 2011” award from White Guide and leading newspaper DN:s restaurant award the Golden Dragon was awarded Nobis Hotel as “Innovator of the Year 2011”.
